Frustrated with iOS 26? You're Not Alone — Here's How to Fix It
Buffalo iPhone users are struggling with Apple's latest update. MacSolutions Plus shares simple fixes.

If you updated your iPhone recently and suddenly felt like you were using someone else's phone, you're not imagining things. Apple's iOS 26.2 update has Buffalo-area iPhone users calling our East Amherst repair shop "all day long" with complaints.

I recently joined WBEN 930AM to talk about the frustrations people are experiencing — and more importantly, what you can do about it.

What's Wrong with iOS 26?

The complaints we're hearing at MacSolutions Plus are consistent across Amherst, Clarence, and Williamsville:

- Slow performance — Apps take longer to open and respond
- Confusing navigation — Swipes don't go where you expect
- Photo posting problems — Sharing images is more complicated
- Browser tab switching — Safari tabs are harder to manage
- Email search hidden — The search function moved locations
- Battery drain — Noticeable decrease in battery life

Apple calls it "liquid glass" — a modernized interface that looks sleek but completely changes how you interact with your phone. After 20 years of tapping icons in the same spots, your muscle memory is suddenly wrong.

The Quick Fix: Revert to the Classic Look

Good news — you don't have to live with the new interface. Here's how to get your familiar iPhone look back:

Step-by-Step: Restore Classic iPhone Interface

- Open Settings
- Tap Accessibility
- Select Display & Text Size
- Turn on Reduce Transparency

Result: Your iPhone will look much more like the previous iOS version. Backgrounds become solid again, and the "liquid glass" effect disappears.

The catch? Some button locations have permanently changed. Even with reduced transparency, you'll need to retrain your muscle memory for certain tasks. It's frustrating, but it's better than starting from scratch.

Who's Most Affected?

During my WBEN interview, I mentioned that older users who didn't grow up with constantly changing technology are having the hardest time. But honestly? We're hearing complaints from tech-savvy customers too.

When you've been using your phone the same way for years — maybe decades — and suddenly everything moves, it's disorienting regardless of your age. Your fingers know where the camera button is. Your brain knows how to swipe between apps. iOS 26 breaks those patterns.

Will Apple Reverse the Update?

Apple has walked back controversial updates before, but I don't see it happening with iOS 26. They've invested heavily in this new "liquid glass" interface design, and it's clearly their vision for the future of iOS.

That said, if enough people complain — and trust me, they are — Apple might release refinements in iOS 26.3 or 26.4 that address the most frustrating issues.

Still Having iPhone Problems?

Beyond the iOS 26 interface issues, if your iPhone is running slow, draining battery quickly, or experiencing other problems after the update, it might be time for professional help.
